G·IPRs Help Center
The Basics
G•IPRs is a website based on Drupal, a open source software. The website is more like an intellectual property knowledge database created and maintained by all the authenticated users. G•IPRs help center lists out some basic conceptions and common questions. You can submit new questions to us through “Contact Us” or visit Drupal handbooks for more information.
Almost all the contents on G•IPRs are stored as “nodes”. When we talk about a node, a piece of content on G•IPRs is referred to such as a piece of Legal Text, Blog, Forum or Comment and so forth (these are the types of contents reflecting though nodes).
Taxonomy means various systems of classification used to categorize contents. The software “Drupal” G•IPRs uses to build the website defines its system of classification by this word and we respectively manage and show the contents of our website by classification. On G•IPRs, taxonomy refers to the congregation of many classifications, while the vocabulary of classification is “Term”.
The default language of G•IPRs is English and the system is equipped with multi-lingual system which can be extended at any time. Recently, we have two language versions of Chinese and English. We will add new languages if necessary. The multi-lingual system of G•IPRs mainly applys to nodes (i.e. contents of articles), not including other contents like menu, button and taxonomy and so forth. Translations consist of contribution of authenticated users or the official texts of legislative, administrative or judicial files which is out of the protection of copyright law.
After clicking the “Translate” button on the text page of articles on the website (under the title of the article), you can check the translation status of the article; if there is no translation, you can add one to your articles or others’ after log-in.
G•IPRs adopts Google Custom Search Engine through which you can search articles of the website with key words. The newly-posted articles might not be collected immediately by Google so that your search result may not include such articles. But it will be convenient for you to see the latest articles on Home Page, Blog, Forum and the classification page of Category on the left side.
After clicking "My account" on the top of the website, there is a “Tracker” button under the user name. The articles you have posted and the content type, title, author’s name, number of comments and the time of latest update will be shown by clicking the button which not only helps you on the management of your articles but also enables the readers who pay attention to you to find your previously posted articles.
If you want to keep your E-mail addresses private, the “Contact” tab allows other users to contact you by E-mail according to your personal contact form, which can efficiently control the harassment of spam. You may enable or disable the “Contact” tab by choosing or cancelling the personal contact form option through editing “My account” page, which will not affect the recipient of E-mail from administrator of the website.

Laws, regulations, and resolution, decision, orders of state organs, other documents of a legislative, administrative, judicial nature and their official translations, which are out of the protection of copyright law are anticipated to be posted in the form of Official Text; i.e. Official Text is just a label which facilitates us to recognize the works in public domain. But the translations of legal texts by the authenticated users themselves do not belong to works in the public domain but shall be protected by copyright law.
Both anonymous users and authenticated users can add comments to the articles on the website, but the comments of anonymous users will be shown on the website after verification.
The Aggregator function of Drupal provides us with powerful syndicator and news reader, which automatically gathers relevant contents from any news or other websites designated and then they will be aggregatively shown on our website. It also provides OPML files of Feed which facilitates you to export the contents to other software or news reader. By Aggregator, we subscribe some professional intellectual property (IP) or other legal website information so as to make it convenient for you to keep in pace with the IP legal developments. FAQ
Content Type and Taxonomy are totally two different conceptions on the website. Different “Content Types” equal to the classifications of “Node” template. Except for Blog, Forum, Legal Text and Comment authenticated users often use, Page and Faq, these two Content Types will be used by members of G•IPRs management group. While “Taxonomy" is the classification of contents of articles. The treed-structure classification in Category on the left side of the website is “Term” under the “Taxonomy”. There is no need for authenticated users to focus on “Content Types” (already set in the system) when submitting an article. But you need to choose the most proper “Term” to classify your article.
No matter whether you log in or not, you can choose a language to exploit your posting article and reply or view the translation of the article through: (a) the language link on the upper right corner of the website; (b) in the classification page, choose language bottom on the lower left corner of the article's abstract (if any); (c) in the text page of the article, choose language bottom on the left corner of the article (if any). If the article you are reading has been translated, you can view translation through switching language bottom on the page being read.
Generally speaking, it is caused by choosing the option of “Language neutral” in “Language” tab by chance. The website default setting of the multi-lingual system is only for showing one language on one page (i.e. English or Chinese). If the language attribute of the article is “Language neutral”, it can not be displayed on the website. But we can find it in the backstage. You can submit the question via “Contact Us” and your article can be viewed on the website after our setting adjustment.
