SDL Trados Studio 2009 Will be Issued Soon!

It is really good news that SDL Trados Studio 2009 will come to us soon combining decades of translation technology experience and large investment into research and development. As one of the CAT software we have tried, it is the one that we chose for our daily documents process, which is comparatively qualified for our work flow. And based on our experience of using, our comments on SDL Trados Studio 2009 are as follows:

Compared with Trados 2007, SDL Trados Studio 2009 has some improvements in the following aspects:

•1.       Hybrid Functions and Interface

Compared with our previous experience of Trados 2007, SDL Trados Studio 2009 is the hybrid of SDLX and Trados because the operation interface looks like Synergy and the segments in two columns is the unique feature of SDLX. TM database interface still inherits the style of Trados. We also noticed that a function called "Editor" makes the whole documents involved in the translation project more intuitive. And in a whole, the interface of SDL Trados Studio 2009 becomes more compact, clean and user-friendly.

•2.       Multiple TM Database

In SDL Trados Studio 2009, it provides Multiple TM access. We know that in Trados, only one TM can be accessed during translation, which impedes us to make full use of our TMs. But now the new function of Multiple TM can solve the problem we met before.

•3.       Auto-suggest Function

As we all know, sometimes when a TU is not reflected from the TM, you can only find them through Concordance or import TM into Maintain, which is very time-consuming. But Auto-Suggest go beyond segment matching by leveraging phrases from your TM as you type. For us, more reference means more accurate based on our accumulation of data. This function increases the utilization ratio of TMs.

•4.       Compatibility of PDF Files

Due to our work which involving large amount documents processing, PDF document is the most difficult one to be converted into word. But now SDL Trados Studio 2009 with its new filter makes it possible that when original source files are not available, PDF can be process by SDL Trados Studio 2009. It is really a great advantage compare with Trados 2007.

We have integrated SDL 2007 into our workflow based on the spirit of GIM for we handle large-scaled documents of foreign languages. But there are still some minor details which puzzle us. Based on the improvements of SDL Trados Studio 2009, we become more and more confident when handling large-scaled materials in foreign languages provided by our clients. That means we are able to provide more efficient and accurate products also with high quality to our clients from worldwide. High quality services and rapid reaction to the requirements are what we always pursue.
